The SCP Plus includes 9 educational modules that cover topics on education, safety, strategies for challenging behaviors, communication, coping, finding purpose/meaning in caregiving, and community-based services (for an overview of each module, see Fields et al [23]). The SCP Plus includes 12 hours of training for the SCs over 2 days and reviews the essential components of the intervention.

Across all stages of the research, we will publish peer-reviewed papers and present our findings at conferences attended by researchers and clinicians in diverse and relevant fields. We will also share the results of this study directly with relevant and interested parties by developing infographics. These will be distributed through dementia caregiving networks and established partnerships.

We will select EHR fields that align with SEIPS 2.0 domains (Table 1). Data will be obtained from January 2019 to August 2022 to capture care practices before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This time frame will allow us to better understand the impact of any visitor restrictions on care partner inclusion practices. To calculate the sample size, we conducted an a priori power analysis using G*Power 3.1 [27].
