Twitter-Based Influenza Detection After Flu Peak via Tweets With Indirect Information: Text Mining Study

According to the previous study by Aramaki et al [15], most people report influenza information precisely in the early stage of an influenza season. However, as the indirect information is propagated widely, most people know about the influenza epidemic and become insensitive to the event. We designate such deactivated people as trapped sensors. This study investigates the degree to which this model improves the performance of the event detection.
