Trends in Early-Onset Colorectal Cancer in Singapore: Epidemiological Study of a Multiethnic Population

Trends in Early-Onset Colorectal Cancer in Singapore: Epidemiological Study of a Multiethnic Population

Singapore has a multiethnic resident population of 4 million, of which 74% are Chinese, 13% Malays, and 9% Indians [11]. In Singapore, CRC has the highest incidence among all cancers for the past several years, which, therefore, imposes a substantial burden in terms of complications, mortality, health care resources, and medical costs [12]. According to the Singapore Cancer Registry Annual Report 2021, there were a total of 12,239 new cases of CRC diagnosed from 2017 to 2021.

Older Adults’ Perspectives and Experiences With Digital Health in Singapore: Qualitative Study

In Singapore, the rapid increase of an aging population is evident given the growth of the proportion of older residents from 11.7% in 2013 to 19.1% in 2023 [2]. As the median age of Singapore continues to increase (median age is 43 years in 2023), it is projected that 24.1% of the Singaporean population will be aged 65 years and older by 2030 [2].

Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication and Emotional Appeals in COVID-19 Public Health Messaging: Quantitative Content Analysis

Singapore effectively managed COVID-19, which is evident from the World Health Organization lauding its “all-of-government” approach [1]. This approach [1,2] entails collaboration among different government agencies [2]. While COVID-19 is no longer a global health emergency, Singapore continues to experience periodic infection waves [3]. During the pandemic, the Singaporean government charted its response to COVID-19 in stages, as detailed in a white paper [4].

N-of-1 Trials of Antimicrobial Stewardship Interventions to Optimize Antibiotic Prescribing for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection in Emergency Departments: Protocol for a Quasi-Experimental Study

In Singapore, URTIs also accounted for a substantial proportion of attendances at EDs and were associated with frequent ED attendance, as EDs were popular choices for primary care [18]. A previous study at an adult general hospital reported that 35% of adult patients presenting to the ED for URTI were prescribed antibiotics [19]. A physician’s likelihood to prescribe antibiotics for a patient is complex and determined by many factors.
