Breast Cancer Vlogs on YouTube: Descriptive and Content Analyses
A popular subset of vlogs are created by women with breast cancer, in which they document their breast cancer experiences in a publicly accessible digital format. As videos that tend to invite viewers into the lives of their creators, vlogs typically receive high levels of engagement and draw audiences who will continue watching in order to keep up with what creators are doing next.

Research shows women of color experience disproportionate rates of MM and SMM in comparison to their non-Hispanic White counterparts [4,5]. This issue is perpetuated by racism embedded within the maternal health care infrastructure to the extent of which social determinants, such as higher income and education, no longer serve as protective factors for health [5-9].

The incidence in the United States is estimated to be greater than 297,000 women annually and increases with patient age [1,2]. In addition to patient age, breast cancer risk factors include BMI, early age of menarche, late age of menopause, family history or genetic risk, and environmental exposures [3].
Nonmetastatic breast cancer is treated surgically, and approximately 30% of patients have a complete mastectomy.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) affect >50% of women in their lifetime [1,2], which can necessitate multiple health care professional (HCP) visits and antibiotic prescriptions, and have a substantial impact on quality of life [3,4]. Determinants of this quality-of-life impact include the capacity for symptoms to affect everyday activities (including sex, sleep, work, and exercise) and the emotional toll of disease management [5,6].

Hazardous drinking is among the most prominent health-related disparities when comparisons of heterosexual and sexual minority women are undertaken globally [14-16]. For example, findings from a US national sample found that compared to heterosexual women, sexual minority women were nearly 4 times as likely to engage in heavy episodic drinking [17].

Racial and ethnic minority individuals in the United States, particularly those with limited English proficiency (LEP) [1], experience significant health disparities; for example, despite high incidence rates of cervical cancer, early detection through regular screening remains low among these populations, especially among women with LEP [2-4]. As a result, racial and ethnic minority women often present with more advanced disease stages than non-Hispanic White women [5].
